His professional career as a designer began shortly after graduating in Economic and Business Sciences – his specialty was Marketing and Sales – from the Commercial University of Deusto, in 1996. A year later he was awarded a grant by the DZ – Design CENTRE programme, to specialise in industrial design. Subsequently, he furthered his studies at De Montfort University (Leicester, GB), where he obtained a BA (Honours) in Product and Furniture Design.
Knowledge and training have been key elements throughout his career. He has collaborated as a Professor and a Project Supervisor with the University of Oviedo, the University of Avilés and Mondragon Unibertsitatea. He carried out the same teaching and supervisory role while collaborating with the Design Management Master’s Degree at the DZ-Design CENTRE, in collaboration with the University of the Basque Country. From 2008 to 2010 he was the External Expert in Industrial Design at the University of Wales; he maintains a permanent relationship with various technological centres and since 2010, he has been teaching Entrepreneurship and Sustainability at the University of Deusto (DBS). The content of his courses always major on design thinking and they use the very process of the design and development of products and services as the axis of the syllabus.
The work of Jon Santacoloma has been recognised by, among others, the AEPD (The Spanish Association of Design Professionals) who bestowed upon him its Industrial Design Award in 2006. He gives talks and seminars on Design, he undertakes new projects that always take knowledge of the design process behind products and services as their starting point.
Since 2000 runs Ideilan Design. Design Studio formed by a team of highly qualified professionals with extensive experience in the sector. This working group provides the necessary balance between rationality and creativity, innovation, technological knowledge, economic thinking and humanism to undertake projects and to always meet the established requirements. Furthermore, our proximity to and our empathy with our clients, their needs and their objectives is, we believe, one of the strong points of our projects.
A language of shapes, visually light and constructively smart, works with common materials in new contexts and tries to overcome established forms. The aim is an industrially fabricable product incorporating handcraft techniques in its production. Sustainability comes from significance and significance from an emotion. The industrial artefact speaks a language that is a manifestation of its conception and fabrication. An emotion can only be bestowed on an object if it radiates the emotion itself. The work of German designer Meike Harde focuses on several areas. She uses both an experimental-constructive basis and looks to apply an allegoric-conceptual approach in her projects. She devotes herself to textile materials and applications. Here she tries to re-think common manufacturing technologies and construction rules: she studies the behavior and properties of the particular material in order to apply her conclusions to new possibilities in upholstery, lighting or other furniture construction. Her design vocabulary ranges between reduction and ornamentation and displays a kind of female style which are a contrast to established forms.
Valeria Salvo is a product designer and illustrator. She was born in Sicily in 1986, for study purposes she has moved first to Bologna, where she attended the Art history course, then to Venice where she earned the Master's degree in Industrial Design at IUAV. Her study path has brought her to have a conceptual approach to the project: design for her is research, analysis, concept, critic and eventually shape. She thinks that a product comes from a process where choices bring naturally to the definition of a shape. During this process it is very important the attention for details and choice of material. Currently she works in Padua and collaborates with many design studios and companies. More info on www.valeriasalvo.com
Henrique Steyer is Brazilian, graduated in Architecture and Urbanism, and post-graduated in advertising imagery and strategic design from POLI.Design in Milan,Italy. He designed a store in South Africa, was on a magazine cover in China and his projects have been published in over 35 countries. He was a lecturer inBrazil's largest design events. He has acted as guest teacher in graduate and post-graduate design courses and also writes about design in two important Brazilian newspapers and in a variety magazine. He is also the artistic director of one the world's largest furniture stores, for which he also designs furniture and concept stores all across Brazil. Between an interior design project here and an architecture project there, he wanders around residential and corporate spaces, and doesn't think twice before taking more conceptual flights - such as the imaginary artist Mark Gary Adams (www.markgaryadams.com), a persona created by him and spread across the globe. With an absolutely global creative spirit, but firm roots in Brazil, Steyer also bets in another angle: industrial design. His furniture collection has a strong playful appeal and has been showcased in Milan's Design Week.
His creations won over critics all around the globe, and innovation is in the eye of the beholder, Steyer's work indicates that he really sees far ahead.

I arrived in Milan from Verona. I attended the gymnasium (classical languages) in an absolutely classical way, at an excellent Milanese high school with worthy teachers and healthy principles, which wasn't bad at all. I made up my mind and enrolled in Architecture at the Milan Polytechnic in 1958.
Fortunately, in the third year there was a course by Ernesto Nathan Rogers that was called, somewhat curiously, Stylistic Characters. I found it fascinating and instructive. Then in the fourth year there was a course called Furniture One by Gio Ponti, who gave fantastic lessons that were more like conversations
During the last years of university, I did a bit of drafting and model making, especially in the studio that Sandro, who is my elder by eight years, had begun before he graduated.
When I returned, I found out that Sandro had formed a studio called Nizzoli Associati (on Via Rossini in Milan) with Mario Oliveri and Paolo Viola. They were working on a competition, so I helped out as a draftsman, paid by the hour. We drew with ink, stuck on halftone screens, and used Letraset. After the competition, I stayed on and became a partner, and then an associate.
I worked a few years for the National Research Council (CNR) and for Tecnocasa (which was a research institute, not the name of a real estate agency). I produced for them books and studies that also contained a few ideas on how to get beyond the abstract nature of it all. I was considered talented in the organization of design projects and construction phases. I became a designer of construction systems.
When I ended up in the building industry, I worked for the companies Ipisystem and Industrial Habitat, applying what had been theorized. I designed construction systems for industrialized building and for the buildings that used them. It included the production process, execution and project management.
After I got back to my profession as an architect, I worked with my brother on the first house for Alberto Alessi, the Groninger Museum, and then all the other projects of Atelier Mendini, which Sandro and I founded in 1989.
The Groninger Museum was the greatest project I ever worked on.
